We all know that cucumbers are a staple in salads, detox waters and sandwiches, but who knew they could be part of a world record as well! Zhang Yazhou from China has taken cucumber slicing to a whole new level — and he didn't use a knife. Instead, he sliced through 41 cucumbers in just one minute using nothing but playing cards. Yes, you read that right.

Zhang, known for his card-throwing skills, recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for this feat. With just a flick of the wrist, he sends cards flying through the air with enough precision to split cucumbers right down the middle.

In a video shared by Guinness World Records on Instagram, Zhang is seen standing at a distance from a row of cucumbers suspended on a stand. One by one, the cucumbers fall in half as his cards slice through them. A few slow-motion shots capture the precision of each throw, making it feel like a scene from a martial arts movie.

Zhang's achievement wasn't a fluke. According to the Guinness World Records, it took him 20 days of practice to perfect his throws and make it into the record books.

“Most cucumbers cut by throwing playing cards in one minute, 41 by Zhang Yazhou,” read the caption of Guinness World Records' post.

In December 2024, Guinness World Records shared another feat involving cucumbers. Members of India's Bir Khalsa martial arts group set a record for most slices of cucumber held in a person's mouth with a chainsaw while blindfolded in one minute. 

The video shows a blindfolded man using an electric chainsaw to slice a cucumber held by a teammate, with a third member quickly replacing the cucumber as it's cut. The record was set with an astonishing 71 slices in just 60 seconds — without anyone getting hurt.

While these methods may not be the most practical way to cut cucumbers, they certainly showcase the creativity and skill behind some of the most bizarre Guinness World Records. While the record may seem fascinating, do not try this at home as it can lead to any potential health or safety risk.

Watch: Queer Eye Star Tan France's Gajar Ka Halwa Recipe Is Making The Internet Drool

A plate of gajar ka halwa in the chilly season is like food to your soul. The Indian dessert is prepared with a blend of grated carrot (gajar), milk and sugar. A spoonful of desi ghee adds aroma and flavour to this sweet dish. Gajar ka halwa gives a delightful spin to winter. Don't know about you, but renowned fashion designer and entrepreneur Tan France agrees with us wholeheartedly. His latest Instagram entry serves as proof. The foodie has dropped a video to treat his followers with an easy-peasy gajar ka halwa recipe.

In the video, Tan France begins the preparation by grating carrots before adding them to a pan. A dollop of ghee is added next. He advises to cook the mix in medium-high heat for five minutes till the sugar dissolves completely. Milk is then poured into the pan and cooked for about an hour in low heat. Next, Tan France grinds cardamom and adds it to the pan. “I would have them added to the pan about 10 to 15 minutes before I finish cooking,” he says. Raisins go to the pan after that, followed by a generous sprinkle of coarse brown sugar. 

Ready for the final step? Tan France chops some pistachios and drizzles them on top of the gajar ka halwa. “I think it is one of the best desserts you can make and it is so simple,” he admits. Drooling already?
