International Lebanese Food Chain Zaatar W Zeit Debuts In India: First Outlets Open In Mumbai

Bandra has a new Lebanese restaurant located in none other than the famous Pali Hill locality. Zaatar W Zeit, an international food chain, recently made its debut in India by opening an outlet in this neighbourhood. This urban casual dining establishment is known for its fresh salads, wraps, and snacks, including a range of Lebanese staples. Founded in Lebanon in 1999, this brand has grown to establish a presence across multiple countries. Currently, Zaatar W Zeit operates 26 branches in Lebanon and approximately 70 in other parts of the world. Passion Cuisine has brought it to India (the same F&B group that owns renowned restaurants in the UAE and India, such as Avatara, Tresind, Carnival by Tresind, Tresind Studio, and Maison De Curry.) In Mumbai, although the flagship outlet is in Bandra, Zaatar W Zeit has simultaneously launched two others in Andheri East and NESCO Goregaon.

The Bandra outlet is well-situated and cosy - suitable for grabbing a quick, satiating meal. In general, the curation of the menu, portion sizes and flavour profiles would also appeal to those who order their meals at the office. The fare is uncomplicated, largely wholesome and promises to travel well. Additionally, the brand aims to stand out by offering foodies a chance to discover Lebanese dishes beyond the usual hummus and falafel (nevertheless, the menu does contain crowd favourites). "Shawarma may be everywhere, but Lebanese cuisine is more than that & Zaatar W Zeit is here to offer an experience that redefines how Mumbai enjoys Lebanese food," says Chef Sarfaraz Ahmed, Corporate Chef, Passion F&B India. "Spices are sourced directly from Lebanon, and while often perceived as mild compared to Indian cuisine, Lebanese food is rich in fresh vegetables, handmade bread, and wholesome ingredients," he underscores.

The flatbread section of the menu is separate and provides an array of delicious toppings. Salad enthusiasts can opt for classics like Caesar or Fattoush or taste signature ones like the Quinoa Tabbouleh or Halloumi Salad. The starters also feature an interesting mix of classic cafe-style bites and niche appetisers such as Halloumi Sticks and Cheese Sambousek (flaky fried Middle Eastern pastries with a savoury filling). As for wraps, one can relish the Famous Chicken, Spizy Chicken, Classic Chicken Shawarma, or Soujouk Wrap, alongside vegetarian options like Brown Baked Falafel. Those wanting heartier mains can savour the skillet offerings including the Chicken Shawarma Skillet, Creamy Escalope Pasta, Golden Taouk Skillet And Halloumi Pan. 11 Fool-Proof Tips To Set Curd Faster At Home

Any Indian meal tastes better with a side serving for fresh curd. The cool, refreshing curd makes our food taste better, so much so that many of us can't go without curd for even a single day. It's not just plain curd that is a staple in Indian cuisine; we also use it to make lassi, raita, kadhi and other popular recipes. Homemade curd is better than the store-bought one any given day. While setting curd at home is easy during summer, the same can be more difficult in winters.

Every year, as we slip into the much-awaited cold season, we start facing difficulties in making thick, dense and perfectly-set curd. The process is longer, and as we inch closer towards peak winters, setting curd at home seems impossible. But, not this time! We have dug out some very useful tips to set curd faster and with complete success, be it summer or winter.

(Also Read: How To Make Dahi Without Khatta or Starter, Also Known As Jamun?)

5uttdo3Curd is used in a number of ways in Indian cuisine.

Here Are 11 Tips To Set Curd Faster:

1. Whole Milk
If you want your curd to be creamy and dense, use whole fat milk, or standard pasteurised milk, especially in winter.

2. Mix Well
After adding curd culture, make sure that it is mixed well with milk. Blend thoroughly with the spoon.

3. Shuffle The Milk
Shuffle the cultured milk between two bowls for 5-6 times. This method ensures the culture is blended well and it helps start the fermentation process instantly.

4. Build Froth
If you blend curd culture and milk with a hand whisk, it will turn milk frothy. This is another great way to ensure faster setting of curd.

5. Use Warm Milk
Always use warm milk (but not too hot) to make the curd. Lukewarm milk works best in summer, and a little warmer milk yields better result in winter.

6. Earthen Pot
If you have an earthen pot at home, use it to make the curd. The mud-based container fastens the milk fermentation process.

7. Keep It Warm
After adding the culture, wrap your container with a thick, warm piece of cloth to keep it warm. Use your old woollen sweater or stole or anything that won't hurt you if it gets spoiled.

8. The Green Chilli Effect
It is surprising but adding a green chilli with its stem intact helps curd set faster. How? Green chillies contain certain bacteria that propel the milk to produce protein curdles and turn them into curd.

9. Warm Storage
You should leave your curdled milk in a closed and warm place. You can place it in an oven with the light on. The light alone creates a warm temperature inside the oven. Placing the curdled milk in a casserole is also a good idea. Its insulated walls lock in the heat inside.

10. Place In Warm Water
It's a simple tip. Just warm some water and pour it in a casserole. Then place a smaller bowl with curdled milk inside it and close the lid firmly.

11. Leave It Alone
While mixing milk and curd starter is important to initiate the fermentation process, after you keep it away to make curd, don't touch and move it till the curd is set.

Use these smart tips to enjoy fresh homemade curd throughout the year.

How Long Do Boiled Eggs Last In The Fridge?

Eggs are a staple in many households. Regardless of the season, people always have eggs in their kitchen. You can have them scrambled, poached, fried or in an omelette, there are just so many ways to eat eggs. But one of the most common and easiest ways is to have them as boiled eggs. Just drop them in water, let them boil, and you're good to go. No oil, no extra effort. And because this process is so convenient, we sometimes end up boiling a batch instead of just one or two. But have you ever wondered how long they're fresh for? Can you eat them after a few days or do you need to consume them quickly? If you are an egg fanatic, then let's find out the truth behind it.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

How Long Do Boiled Eggs Last In The Fridge?

Unlike raw eggs, which have a naturally protective shell coating, hard-boiled eggs become susceptible to contamination after cooking. As per the official website Ask USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), hard-boiled eggs can last up to 7 days in the refrigerator if stored properly. Make sure to store it at 4 degrees Celsius. The shell helps protect them from absorbing fridge odours and bacteria, which keeps them fresh for longer. If you store peeled eggs in the fridge, make sure to consume them within 2-3 days. Without the shell, the egg can dry out faster and is more prone to getting rotten. As for room temperature, hard-boiled eggs should never be left out for more than 2 hours. Make sure to consume them immediately within an hour, especially if the weather is hot.

How To Tell If A Hard-Boiled Egg Has Rotten

Nobody likes to consume a spoiled egg. But, with some simple hacks, you can tell if your hard-boiled eggs have passed their prime or not.

1. The Smell Test: Fresh eggs don't have a strong smell. If your eggs have a rotten, sulfuric or confusing odour, it's time to throw it away.

2. Texture: If the egg white or yolk feels slimy or rubbery, it is best not to eat it. Eggs are supposed to have a soft texture.

3. Colour: If the egg white has turned into any other colour like pink, green, or grey, or if the yolk looks overly dark, it means it has spoiled.

4. The Float Test: For unpeeled eggs, a simple yet effective method is to float them in water. If the egg floats, chances are it has gone bad. If it sinks, it is good to use!
