The blaze, which started at a fast food outlet, rapidly spread to an adjacent restaurant, causing significant damage. According to Delhi Fire Services, multiple fire tenders were rushed to the scene to contain the fire. A portion of one of the restaurant's roofs collapsed due to the intensity of the flames.

Manoj Mehlawat, a Delhi Fire Services official, revealed that the fire department received a distress call around 3:20 AM. "Seven to eight fire brigades have been sent there... Two restaurants caught fire and six people are reportedly injured... The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained... More than required commercial cylinders were stored in the restaurant, which could have led to a major tragedy..."

According to the reports, the fire started at a Chinese restaurant and spread to the restaurant next door. The injured individuals were promptly shifted to the nearest hospital for treatment. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.

This news comes days after a huge fire broke out at Veg Gulati, a popular restaurant on Pandara Road for Indian food. The incident took place in the early hours of July 17, 2024. As per a Delhi Fire Services official, the fire broke out at 2:48 am in the seating area of the establishment and soon spread to the first floor. Four fire tenders were used to douse the flames and the situation was brought under control within an hour. While some pieces of furniture and other objects were damaged in the fire, no casualties were reported."

The repeated fires at these popular dining establishments have raised concerns about safety protocols in the city's restaurant industry.

Attention Health-Conscious People! Try These 5 Easy Tips To Make Your Favourite Malai Kofta Healthier

With its rich, creamy gravy and melt-in-your-mouth koftas, Malai kofta is one dish that holds a special place in the hearts of foodies across India. This delicious dish is often served on special occasions, and its luxurious taste leaves everyone asking for more. However, its typical method involves deep-fried koftas and heavy cream-based gravy, which makes it unhealthy and full of calories, especially if you are trying to lose weight. But what if we tell you that you can enjoy this classic dish more frequently and without the guilt? Yes, that is possible! Just make a few changes in your recipe and you are good to go! Wondering what they are? Here are 5 tips to make (irresistible) malai kofta healthier!

Here Are 5 Tips To Make Malai Kofta Healthier

1. Ditch The Regular Paneer

While we know paneer is a staple in malai kofta, it can be high in fat making it an unhealthy option. However, you can easily replace it with alternatives like tofu or make low-fat paneer at home with toned milk. These alternatives are rich in protein but low in calories and fat, making them excellent substitutes to add to your dish. Tofu, especially, absorbs the flavours of the spices and ensures that your koftas remain soft, flavourful and satisfying.

2. Add Vegetables

Yes, we know that malai kofta does not have veggies in it, but since you will be making a healthier version of it, befriend the vegetables. Give your regular koftas a nutritional boost by adding grated carrots, zucchini, and spinach that don't only enhance the flavour and texture of the koftas but also pack them with vitamins and fibre. This will also make your koftas more wholesome and balanced, making your eating experience guilt-free!

3. Air Fry The Koftas

Typically, the koftas are fried which adds to unnecessary calories and fat. Instead, try air frying to get a similar crisp without the hassle of cooking. Preheat your air fryer to 180°C and evenly spread out the kofta balls over it. Dab a little oil over them and air fry for 20 minutes. This will give you golden and crispy koftas without the need for excess oil.

4. Make A Light Gravy

Malai Kofta is known for its rich and creamy gravy. However, this richness comes from heavy cream and milk which in combination can be extremely unhealthy and calorie-laden. For a light yet equally tasty alternative, use a yoghurt or tomato-based gravy. Greek yoghurt in particular adds a rich texture to the gravy while tomatoes add a tangy taste to it. If you want it to be creamy, add some cashew paste to the gravy. It can make your gravy creamy without adding excessive dairy fat.

5. Balance Your Meal

Balance is the key to eating healthy. Start by serving yourself a small portion of koftas and pair them with a generous serving of stir-fried vegetables or a crunchy salad. This won't just add nutrients to your overall meal but also ensure that you are not overindulging.

4 Foods That Can Be Both Good And Bad For Your Health, According To A Nutritionist

The type of foods we eat daily determines how healthy we are. However, with so much information available, it can be quite confusing to know what is truly healthy for us and what is not. We may think we are consuming healthy foods, but the reality might be quite the opposite. Conversely, we might consider something unhealthy, but it could be beneficial. Some foods are a mix of both: good when consumed in moderation, and harmful when over-consumed. To shed light on these, nutritionist Nmami Agarwal shared four such foods that can be both good and bad for your health. Check them out below:

Ghee has several health benefits.

Here Are 4 Foods With Both Positive And Negative Effects On Your Well-Being:

1. Ghee

Ghee has been a staple in Indian kitchens since time immemorial. Contrary to popular belief, this golden nectar can indeed be quite healthy. The nutritionist explains that ghee is packed with essential vitamins and nutrients. However, its benefits lie in moderation and how you consume it. Overheating ghee can lead to the formation of harmful compounds. So, while a spoonful of ghee can elevate your meals, deep-frying isn't the best way to enjoy it.

2. Rice

Another food you must have in moderation is rice. It's true that rice provides essential energy, but one should not overconsume it. Nmami says that it's essential to balance out your plate with proteins and fibre while having rice. This will help prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar levels. Remember, rice makes for a great companion but should never be the focus of your meal.

3. Pickles

The next food item that Nmami talks about is pickles. We Indians simply love pairing our food with pickles. And why not? They are a treasure trove of probiotics and antioxidants. But their tangy flavour comes at a cost - high sodium content. If you consume them in excess, there is a high chance they will lead to cardiovascular diseases. Enjoy them occasionally, and watch your portion size.

4. Coconut

Coconut has some remarkable benefits for our health. It is low in calories and rich in healthy fats and medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). All of these factors make coconut a nutritional powerhouse. However, you shouldn't ignore the fact that coconut is also high in calories. The nutritionist suggests enjoying coconuts in moderation as part of a balanced diet. The best way to reap its benefits is by sipping coconut water.

Like Rakul Preet Singh, if you also want to make a homemade poke bowl, follow these 5 simple tips:

1. Select a Base

One of the most crucial steps in making a poke bowl is selecting the base. Usually, sushi rice is the best option, offering a slightly sticky consistency with a hint of sweetness that contrasts nicely with the salty fish. For a healthier spin, you can also choose quinoa or brown rice.

2. Choose the Fish

You can add either tuna or salmon, both of which are popular options. Feel free to choose other seafood like shrimp. Remember to cut the fish into small pieces for better marination and taste.

3. Marination Process

Prepare the marinade with sesame oil, mayo, soy sauce and a drizzle of sugar or honey. Add green onions, minced garlic and some ginger to enhance the flavour. Marinate the fish for at least 15 minutes but no more than an hour.

4. Pick Vegetables

It is time for the toppings. You can include pickles, nuts, seeds and onions. Add avocados for a creamy texture, cucumbers for crunch and mangoes for sweetness.

5. Final Touch

For the final step, sprinkle scallions, crispy onions and sesame seeds to give the poke bowl an extra layer of goodness. You can also add some spices. Enjoy your delicious homemade poke bowl!
