Chica's New Exciting Menu Takes You On A Global Journey Of Irresistible Flavours

When Chica opened a couple of years back, our Instagram feed was full of pictures of this gorgeous location that mesmerized everyone in Delhi. The flower-filled arch at the entrance and the small passage leading to the restaurant garden were favourite picture spots of the visitors. That was the newest attraction in Delhi that made people head to Chica. Now we have another reason to dine there - their new menu.

Chica, founded by Dinesh Arora, announced the launch of its much-anticipated new World Cuisine menu with a curated selection of global dishes. The 'Progressive Global Cuisine lets the patrons enjoy 'Fusion Pan Asian, "The Art of Patisserie", 'European Tapas & Grills, and more. Chica's new menu stays committed to using local & seasonal ingredients, ensuring a menu that evolves with the changing seasons.

I had fallen in love with Chica when it opened - its serene garden, its plush interiors, the high-spirited music, and of course - the food. So, now when I got to know about the new flavours on the menu, I had to try it.

I was welcomed warmly by the staff, and as soon as I settled, mixologist Noor offered us some great cocktails to try. He even went out of his way to make his own secret creation, which is not on the menu. It was surprisingly delicious. Other cocktails that I really loved were Whisky Sour and Call Me Chica.

Now let's talk about the new food menu. If you are a soup person, you have to start your meal with Chia Khao Suey. It's creamy, nutty and oh-so-yummy - basically, everything you need to calm down your growling stomach while you wait for the rest of the meal. But I really didn't have to wait much because the staff kept bringing one delicacy after another for me to try. In no time, my table was full of food that not only looked drool-worthy but was actually tasty.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

I highly recommend Chicken Yan Sui (sesame chicken with coriander) and Chilli Oil Chicken Wonton. Both the dishes were perfectly flavoured and gave my taste buds a kick of spice they needed. When I dine out, I just can't miss prawns, and Chica's Prawn Sui Mai catered to my craving just right. The prawns were cooked perfectly to my liking - another dish on my recommendation list. Almost all the other dishes I tried impressed me equally. I remember gorging on Chicken Teriyaki Bao even though my stomach was full but my heart wasn't.

The lip-smacking food, lovely hospitality and great ambience made my evening special but the cherry on the top was desserts, and the cake specially brought in for my husband's birthday celebration. It was just the kind of experience we had desired, and thanks to Chica, we got more than we had hoped for.

I can't wait to go back to Chica for another delightful evening.

Hungry Wedding Guests Order Pizza and Wings, Angry Bride Asks Them To Leave

A man recently took to social media to share his experience at a wedding party where there was not enough food for all the guests. About 70 people were invited to the wedding on July 20, 2024, as per the Reddit post. The man who wrote the post, claims to be a friend of the groom and attended the wedding with his wife. Initially, everything went pleasant and the guests were enjoying the wedding reception which had an open bar. However, when it came to the buffet, the happy party started to dampen.

In the post, the man shared that when it was time to eat, "few tables at a time were going to get called which is fine." He added that the food "looked really good" but it was not enough. As per the post, the close family members of the newlyweds who were served first ended up taking second helpings while the rest of the guests were still waiting for the food.

"To my surprise, by the time we were called, there was nothing left, I asked if there was more coming out and apparently there was nothing more. So we grabbed the little we could and went back to sit down and eat the scraps. We were all still pretty hungry," the guest wrote.

While the food looked delicious, as per the post, there was not enough of it.

They then decided to order some food for themselves. "We all pitched in and ordered 4 large pizzas and some chicken wings from a local pizza joint close to the venue so it didn't take long to be delivered. I met the guy outside and brought the food to our table and we started to eat," the guest added.

Seeing the pizzas, several other hungry guests got curious and that resulted in a commotion at the wedding. The post continued, "My friend came to talk to me about why I ordered the food, his bride was not happy about it," adding, that the groom " went back to his bride who was glaring at us. Like what were we supposed to do, starve?"

5 Things You Should Never Clean With Lemons In The Kitchen

Lemons are often praised as miracle cleaners because of their acidity and fresh fragrance. From removing odor to disinfecting surfaces, they seem like the perfect cleaner. However, while they work great for many surfaces, some kitchen items should stay far away from lemons. Curious? You should be! If you run a sustainable kitchen, this article is for you. Keep reading to find out which kitchen items you should never clean with lemons!

Here Are 5 Surprising Things You Shouldn't Clean With Lemons In The Kitchen:

1. Marble And Granite Countertops

Sure, marble and granite countertops add elegance to any kitchen, but they don't react well to acidic cleaners like lemon juice. Lemons are high in acidity and can dull the shiny finish of these countertops. Natural stones are porous and using lemons on them can cause irreparable damage over time. Instead of lemons, go for pH-neutral cleaners designed for natural stone surfaces. This will help retain the counter's shine without risking damage!

2. Cast Iron Pans

Cast iron pans are beloved for their durability and heat retention, but they should never be cleaned with lemon. The acidity of lemons can strip away the protective layer of oil that prevents rusting and stickiness. To keep your cast iron pan in shape, avoid using lemon. Use a brush and hot water for cleaning and avoid soap at all costs!

3. Knives

Kitchen knives are essential tools, and keeping them in good condition is important. Lemon juice has disinfecting properties, but it can damage and oxidize knives, especially if they are made with high-carbon steel. Instead of lemon, use mild dish soap and water, and dry them immediately to prevent rusting. This will keep your knives fresh and your blades sharp!

4. Wooden Utensils

If you have wooden cutting boards and utensils, avoid cleaning them with lemon. The acidity can make them dry, crack, and more prone to harboring bacteria. Instead, use mild soap and water, and coat them with a gentle layer of oil to keep them conditioned. This will ensure they stay in good shape and ready to use!

5. Aluminum Utensils

Aluminum utensils are durable, but cleaning them with lemon can be harmful. The acidity can cause discoloration and loss of shine. It can even form tiny holes on the surface. To remove stubborn stains, use a sponge and dish soap. Be gentle while cleaning to keep your aluminum utensils looking good as new!

5 Clever Ways To Enjoy Honey Chilli Cauliflower On A Weight Loss Diet

Crispy and flavourful - that's exactly how we like our honey chilli cauliflower. This Indo-Chinese street food enjoys a huge fan following across the country and is loved for its tantalising flavours. However, as much as we love indulging in it, it comes at the cost of our health. Sadly, honey chilli cauliflower is deep-fried, making it a not-so-healthy option for a weight loss diet. You'll be happy to know that you can savour this delicious snack while trying to lose weight as well! Wondering how you can do so? Read on to find out!

Healthy Honey Chilli Cauliflower Recipe | Here Are 5 Tips To Make Honey Chilli Cauliflower Weight-Loss-Friendly:

1. Swap Maida With Atta

Typically, honey chilli cauliflower needs to be coated with maida (all-purpose flour) before frying. However, maida is highly refined and lacks essential nutrients, making it less healthy and not ideal for a weight loss diet. Instead, you can swap it with atta (whole wheat flour). Atta makes for a healthier alternative to maida as it has a rich fibre content and is also not refined.

2. Reduce The Amount Of Honey

Honey is what gives this snack its distinct flavour. But let's not forget that honey is also high in calories. While using it, avoid going overboard and add only as much as required. Remember, a little goes a long way. By doing so, you'll feel less regret after indulging in a serving of honey chilli cauliflower. Another plus? All the other flavours come out beautifully too.

3. Air Fry Them

Honey chilli cauliflower is typically deep-fried, making it quite unhealthy. We all are well aware that deep-fried foods are a big no-no on a weight loss diet. So, how else can we cook them instead? Well, all you need is your trusty air fryer! This method of cooking uses hot air to cook the food, which helps reduce the calorie count significantly.

4. Add More Vegetables

While making honey chilli cauliflower, consider adding different vegetables. While this is completely optional, we suggest you do. Adding vegetables will not only add a hint of colour to the snack but also make it much more nutritious. While there are plenty of veggies to choose from, the best options would be bell peppers, onions, or carrots.

5. Exercise Portion Control

This last point is the most important but also the most overlooked. You've indeed put in all the effort to make your honey chilli cauliflower healthy. However, you'll only be able to keep the calories in check if you exercise portion control. Over-consuming can lead to the consumption of extra calories. If you want to enjoy this snack on a weight-loss diet, be mindful of how much you eat.

Now that you know about these tips, keep them in mind the next time you make honey chilli cauliflower at home. For more interesting insights, keep coming back to our website.

5 Key Things To Consider When Buying Organic Fruits And Vegetables

In recent years, there has been a significant shift in how we buy our fruits and vegetables. With the growing awareness about health and wellness, more people are opting for organic produce. And why shouldn't they? Organic produce is free from harmful pesticides, supports sustainable farming practices, and according to many, tastes better. But since the market is filled with so many choices, how do you make sure you are buying the real deal? If you are someone who is looking to buy organic fruits and vegetables but doesn't know how then fret not! We have compiled a list of 5 easy ways to spot if your produce is organic or not!

Also Read: Should You Eat Fruits Before Or After A Meal?

Here Are 5 Ways To Know If Your Fruits And Vegetables Are Organic Or Not:

1. Check For Organic Authorisation

While shopping for your fruits and vegetables, glance at the labels on them. Look for certification labels issued by NPOP (National Program for Organic Production) or APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority). These certifications are provided after thorough checks by the authorized bodies. If you spot these labels on your fruits and vegetables, you can be confident that your produce has been grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. So, always make it a habit to look for these labels on your produce.

2. Appearance

Don't get put off by their imperfect appearance! Organic fruits and vegetables have a unique and natural look. Unlike typically grown produce, organic fruits and vegetables might not be perfectly shaped or coloured. In fact, you may notice some blemishes or spots on their skin, which are actually signs of their organic nature. These factors indicate that your produce has been grown organically. Even the texture of these organic fruits and vegetables would be different. Since they are not coated with artificial waxes and preservatives, organic fruits and veggies can feel slightly rougher than their non-organic counterparts.

3. Presence Of Insects

If you cut a fruit just to see an insect fall off from it, don't fret. Organic produce is not treated with pesticides, so it is common to find insects in it. One of the most basic differences between organic and non-organic produce is that the latter is treated with chemicals to destroy any insects that might sprout into it. So, if you find insects or pests in your produce, it's a sign that it is organic.

4. Smell The Produce

One of the best parts about buying organic produce is its rich, natural aroma. Organic fruits and vegetables have an earthy smell and strong fragrance compared to non-organic produce. This is because organic fruits and vegetables are harvested and delivered fresher and faster, without the use of chemicals that can reduce their natural scent. So, the next time you are in the market, take some time to smell the produce. For example, an organic tomato has a sweet and fragrant smell, while a bunch of coriander leaves has a strong aroma.

5. Taste

The ultimate test of organic produce is its taste. Many people find that organic fruits and vegetables have a rich and vibrant taste. Since it has a higher nutrient concentration, this produce is more delicious. Moreover, it is required in lesser quantity while cooking than the non-organic variety. What's more? Organic food can also make you feel full faster since it is packed with more nutrients and tends to satisfy your hunger sooner!

  3. Extract tamarind pulp: Strain the soaked tamarind water to separate the pulp from the seeds. Add the tamarind pulp to the ground mixture.
  4. Seasoning: Add the hing, cumin powder, and black salt to the chutney. Grind for a few more seconds to combine the flavours.

Tips To Make Perfect Chutney:

  • For a spicier chutney, increase the number of green chillies.
  • Adjust the amount of water according to your desired consistency.
  • Experiment with different herbs like cilantro or curry leaves for added flavour.

This homemade chutney is a versatile condiment that complements a wide range of dishes. It's perfect with parathas, dosas, idlis, or simply as a dip for chips.

Attention Health-Conscious People! Try These 5 Easy Tips To Make Your Favourite Malai Kofta Healthier

With its rich, creamy gravy and melt-in-your-mouth koftas, Malai kofta is one dish that holds a special place in the hearts of foodies across India. This delicious dish is often served on special occasions, and its luxurious taste leaves everyone asking for more. However, its typical method involves deep-fried koftas and heavy cream-based gravy, which makes it unhealthy and full of calories, especially if you are trying to lose weight. But what if we tell you that you can enjoy this classic dish more frequently and without the guilt? Yes, that is possible! Just make a few changes in your recipe and you are good to go! Wondering what they are? Here are 5 tips to make (irresistible) malai kofta healthier!

Here Are 5 Tips To Make Malai Kofta Healthier

1. Ditch The Regular Paneer

While we know paneer is a staple in malai kofta, it can be high in fat making it an unhealthy option. However, you can easily replace it with alternatives like tofu or make low-fat paneer at home with toned milk. These alternatives are rich in protein but low in calories and fat, making them excellent substitutes to add to your dish. Tofu, especially, absorbs the flavours of the spices and ensures that your koftas remain soft, flavourful and satisfying.

2. Add Vegetables

Yes, we know that malai kofta does not have veggies in it, but since you will be making a healthier version of it, befriend the vegetables. Give your regular koftas a nutritional boost by adding grated carrots, zucchini, and spinach that don't only enhance the flavour and texture of the koftas but also pack them with vitamins and fibre. This will also make your koftas more wholesome and balanced, making your eating experience guilt-free!

3. Air Fry The Koftas

Typically, the koftas are fried which adds to unnecessary calories and fat. Instead, try air frying to get a similar crisp without the hassle of cooking. Preheat your air fryer to 180°C and evenly spread out the kofta balls over it. Dab a little oil over them and air fry for 20 minutes. This will give you golden and crispy koftas without the need for excess oil.

4. Make A Light Gravy

Malai Kofta is known for its rich and creamy gravy. However, this richness comes from heavy cream and milk which in combination can be extremely unhealthy and calorie-laden. For a light yet equally tasty alternative, use a yoghurt or tomato-based gravy. Greek yoghurt in particular adds a rich texture to the gravy while tomatoes add a tangy taste to it. If you want it to be creamy, add some cashew paste to the gravy. It can make your gravy creamy without adding excessive dairy fat.

5. Balance Your Meal

Balance is the key to eating healthy. Start by serving yourself a small portion of koftas and pair them with a generous serving of stir-fried vegetables or a crunchy salad. This won't just add nutrients to your overall meal but also ensure that you are not overindulging.

4 Foods That Can Be Both Good And Bad For Your Health, According To A Nutritionist

The type of foods we eat daily determines how healthy we are. However, with so much information available, it can be quite confusing to know what is truly healthy for us and what is not. We may think we are consuming healthy foods, but the reality might be quite the opposite. Conversely, we might consider something unhealthy, but it could be beneficial. Some foods are a mix of both: good when consumed in moderation, and harmful when over-consumed. To shed light on these, nutritionist Nmami Agarwal shared four such foods that can be both good and bad for your health. Check them out below:

Ghee has several health benefits.

Here Are 4 Foods With Both Positive And Negative Effects On Your Well-Being:

1. Ghee

Ghee has been a staple in Indian kitchens since time immemorial. Contrary to popular belief, this golden nectar can indeed be quite healthy. The nutritionist explains that ghee is packed with essential vitamins and nutrients. However, its benefits lie in moderation and how you consume it. Overheating ghee can lead to the formation of harmful compounds. So, while a spoonful of ghee can elevate your meals, deep-frying isn't the best way to enjoy it.

2. Rice

Another food you must have in moderation is rice. It's true that rice provides essential energy, but one should not overconsume it. Nmami says that it's essential to balance out your plate with proteins and fibre while having rice. This will help prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar levels. Remember, rice makes for a great companion but should never be the focus of your meal.

3. Pickles

The next food item that Nmami talks about is pickles. We Indians simply love pairing our food with pickles. And why not? They are a treasure trove of probiotics and antioxidants. But their tangy flavour comes at a cost - high sodium content. If you consume them in excess, there is a high chance they will lead to cardiovascular diseases. Enjoy them occasionally, and watch your portion size.

4. Coconut

Coconut has some remarkable benefits for our health. It is low in calories and rich in healthy fats and medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). All of these factors make coconut a nutritional powerhouse. However, you shouldn't ignore the fact that coconut is also high in calories. The nutritionist suggests enjoying coconuts in moderation as part of a balanced diet. The best way to reap its benefits is by sipping coconut water.

Like Rakul Preet Singh, if you also want to make a homemade poke bowl, follow these 5 simple tips:

1. Select a Base

One of the most crucial steps in making a poke bowl is selecting the base. Usually, sushi rice is the best option, offering a slightly sticky consistency with a hint of sweetness that contrasts nicely with the salty fish. For a healthier spin, you can also choose quinoa or brown rice.

2. Choose the Fish

You can add either tuna or salmon, both of which are popular options. Feel free to choose other seafood like shrimp. Remember to cut the fish into small pieces for better marination and taste.

3. Marination Process

Prepare the marinade with sesame oil, mayo, soy sauce and a drizzle of sugar or honey. Add green onions, minced garlic and some ginger to enhance the flavour. Marinate the fish for at least 15 minutes but no more than an hour.

4. Pick Vegetables

It is time for the toppings. You can include pickles, nuts, seeds and onions. Add avocados for a creamy texture, cucumbers for crunch and mangoes for sweetness.

5. Final Touch

For the final step, sprinkle scallions, crispy onions and sesame seeds to give the poke bowl an extra layer of goodness. You can also add some spices. Enjoy your delicious homemade poke bowl!

We cannot wait for Rakul Preet Singh's next foodie update for more inspiration!
