Delhi Couple Shares Story Of Their Rajma Chawal Stall, Wins Hearts Online

When the pandemic struck in March 2020, many people's businesses suffered. As the world was plunged into a public health crisis, people's livelihoods were endangered. They had to begin looking for alternative ways of making ends meet. Over the years, we have come across many inspirational accounts of people who rose to the challenge. Recently, a vlogger shared a similar story on his Instagram page (@foody_jsv). He visited a roadside stall in Faridabad selling Rajma Chawal and Kadhi Chawal and began interviewing the couple working there. He asked them how they began their particular food venture. The man narrated their journey in brief and Insta users were left applauding their efforts.

The man first explained that he used to work with a printing press. But due to Covid-19, his business went down and he had to take up another job. However, he was still not able to make ends meet. Hence, he and his wife decided to start something on their own. As the voiceover continues, we see the man ladling rajma on top of the rice. He also adds some pieces of radishes and a bit of hari (green) chutney made of mint and coriander. Watch the full video below.

The video has received 672K views so far. The vlogger mentioned that they are located at Green field colony, near Gate No. 5 in Faridabad. In the comments, people all praised the couple's spirit and hard work. "That's the definition of true love," wrote one user. Another said, "May god bless them, and earn a lot of money."

Just yesterday, a video showing "pani puri shawarma" went viral. Foodies were left clamouring for a 'dislike' button on Instagram (Know more here). Shawarma is a dish that is beloved by many not only in India but also in other countries. Today, another popular snack has become the target of a strange food experiment: the dabeli from Gujarat. This dish typically has savoury flavours, with spiced potato, peanut and sev stuffing. But a recent video showing the preparation of a sweet version has left the internet angry.

The video was shared by a Twitter user @chiragbarjatyaa. He simply captioned it, "Every second of this video is shocking." In it, we see a man presenting the dish set-by-step to the viewers, explaining the ingredients as he adds them. He first holds up two sticks of ice-creams to the camera. He then cuts up slices of bread and soaks them in a yellowish liquid. He then begins assembling the dish in a foil container. On top of the bread pieces, he adds some kind of sauce and then crushed dry fruits (kaju, badam and pista). He ladles sweet chutney on top and then proceeds to grate a lot of cheese. Finally, he cuts up three different ice cream dollies (including chocolate and mango) and layers the pieces on top of the cheese. Watch the video below:

Purists would probably advocate for silky-smooth hummus, but again, it is a matter of personal preference. We recommend the smooth variety for chickpea hummus and a slightly coarser one for the ones made with other beans and pulses.

Hummus is an excellent source of plant-based protein, high in fibre and good fats. A 100-gram serving of chickpea hummus contains 8 grams of protein and 14 grams of carbohydrates (of which 6 gms is dietary fibre).

Hummus is a great snack option for diabetics. It is full of complex carbs, high in dietary fibre, protein, heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, vitamins, and minerals.

What To Eat With Hummus For Weight Loss?

If you are on a low-carb diet or avoiding refined carbohydrates, then hummus makes for a great snacking option for you. You can enjoy it with salad or vegetable sticks like carrots, peppers, celery, and cucumber for a satisfying and filling snack. You can even spread it on cucumber or lettuce to make breadless sandwiches or rolls with other fillings.

In a large pot, bring water and salt to a rolling boil, and blanch the green peas in it. Cook them for 3 minutes at a rolling boil, then drain and rinse under cold running water. Reserve about a cup of the salted boiling water for later.

Boil the veggies in a pot.

In a blender, add the peas, mint leaves, garlic, and a few tablespoons of the reserved salted water. Pulse a few times to make a coarsely ground mixture. Add the tahini, lemon juice, and some more water to make it easy to puree. Add the water in small increments to avoid making the hummus too runny. Blend until it is almost smooth yet retains a little texture.

Blend the boiled ingredients.

Make a fine paste of it.

Taste for salt and adjust if needed. To serve, transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika and mint leaves. Serve with warm pita, pita crisps, or toasties.

Asia's 50 Best Restaurants For 2023 Revealed: Bangkok Reigns Supreme, India Shines At...

Bangkok is popular for its street food and is home to some of the world's most popular street food markets, alluring thousands of tourists every day. However, in recent years, the city has also made a name for itself in the world of fine dining. This was highlighted in the 11th edition of 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants' awards, which took place on March 28, 2023, in Singapore. Le Du, an eatery located in the heart of Bangkok, took the coveted top spot on the esteemed list.

Owned and led by Chef Thitid 'Ton' Tassanakajohn, Le Du is a modern Thai-inspired restaurant that offers a four to six-course tasting menu showcasing seasonal Thai ingredients. The restaurant's name, derived from a Thai word meaning "season," reflects its focus on using fresh, seasonal produce in its culinary creations. The restaurant's wine list is also carefully curated by a certified sommelier, featuring a selection of unique and intriguing wines from around the world.

That's not all. Eight other Bangkok-based restaurants (besides Le Du) made it to the list, including Gaggan Anand, a Bangkok-based Indian restaurant run by the popular Kolkata-born chef of the same name. Launched in 2010, the restaurant won several awards over the years, including two Michelin stars.

The other Michelin-star restaurants from Bangkok that are a part of the 2023 list of 'Asia's Best Restaurants' are Sorn, Nusara, Suhring and Raan Jay Fai. For the unversed, Raan Jay Fai is one of the two street food eateries in the world to win a Michelin star (the other being Tai Hwa Pork Noodle in Singapore).

Besides Bangkok, Japan too made it big this year (2023). Tokyo-based restaurant Sezanne grabbed the second spot, with nine other restaurants holding positions on the list. 2022's top slot winner Den (Tokyo-based), got the fourth position this year.

Three Indian restaurants too made it on the 'Asia's Best Restaurants' list in 2023. Masque in Mumbai got the 16th spot, while Delhi's Indian Accent has been ranked 19th. Avartana at ITC Grand Chola Chennai is on the 30th spot this year.

1. Make a liquid mixture with 1 tablespoon vinegar and add half cup of water in it. Pour this solution into an empty spray bottle and slowly shake it, so that both the ingredients mix well.

2. Another way to make a mixture at home is by using 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 tablespoon baking soda. In case you don't have vinegar, you can use fresh lemon juice. Mix the ingredients and pour it in a spray bottle.

Simple Steps To Clean Sandwich Maker At Home:

1. The first step is to switch on the sandwich maker or toaster. Let it heat for 4-5 minutes, because the heat inside the plates will melt the sticky ingredients. This way you will be able to clean the sandwich maker faster.

2. Next step is to use the cleaning solution. You can use any of the above-mentioned solutions. Make sure to unplug the sandwich maker and spray the solution inside on the hot plates. Now close the lid and let it sit for some time.
